Old Chinese tower usually locals in a temple or on the half of mountain near city and market. Most of them are higher than anything near so they are easily seen when walking in the forest or ancient mainroad with bricks, stones or budds. 

In another way travelers are able to know there is a tower is the small bells hanging on the eckes of each level's eaves.
